Sarah Hayes

My core model is Psychosynthesis, one of the transpersonal therapies.  I work in an eclectic way using different therapeutic techniques from various theories, including Gestalt, Transactional Analysis and REBT.  I see clients as the “whole” person, and work holistically to include the mind, body and spirit.

I like to work creatively using art therapy, symbolism and visualisation techniques to help my clients.  I use the most appropriate skill to fit my clients’ needs.  Long and short-term therapy is available.

abuse | self harm | eating disorders | self-esteem | sexuality | bullying
domestic violence | relationships | bereavement | anger | workplace stress

My name is Sarah Hayes. I am an experienced counsellor who has been working for over ten years both with young people aged 12 to 18 and also with adult clients. I have worked in mental health for over twelve years both privately and for the NHS.

The issues I work with include abuse issues, self harm, eating disorders, self-esteem, sexuality, domestic violence, relationship difficulties, bullying, bereavement, anger and workplace stress.

Counselling is usually a short-term therapy of six to eight sessions.  However, I shape the therapy to fit my clients’ needs and this can mean long term work.  Traditionally, psychotherapy is long-term therapeutic work involving examining past issues and childhood experiences and how they impact on the “here and now” of the client’s life.  The therapy that I offer is a blend of both counselling and psychotherapy.  The aim of both is to promote positive change for the client to enable them to become the person they were meant to be and live a fully functioning life.
